KUALA LUMPUR, 14 October 2011 – In an effort to drive innovation and equip Malaysian companies with knowledge in IP management and protection, the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) organized a programme on Patent Drafting & Procedures recently.
EWL’s project manager Christian Kumar was one of the 35 participants selected by MDeC in collaboration with MyIPO to attend the four day Intellectual Property Patent Drafting programme organised by MDeC and MyIPO. The Patent Drafting programme starting 10th October 2011 was conducted by experienced MyIPO trainer, Mr.Redzuan Ali at the MyIPO’s Intellectual Property Training Centre, Menara UOA Bangsar.
“Overall It was a very engaging programme on the drafting process and showcased case studies on how patent drafting has evolved. We also had valuable hand-on experience in drafting patents and making patents claims”, explained Christian Kumar.
Participants also learned how to evaluate patentability criteria, patent concepts, background art, disclosure of invention, drawings and claims. The programme also covered the basics of patent drafting, filing processes, search tools and techniques, trademark filing and participants were examined on their patent drafting skills.
